About this Role
Irby Construction Company, a Quanta Services Company, is actively seeking an experienced Project Safety Coordinator to support Transmission Line (T-Line) projects across Texas.
What You'll Do
Serve as the on-site safety leader, actively supporting Irby’s Safety Management System.
Observe field operations to promote safe behaviors and correct unsafe conditions in real-time.
Monitor compliance and integrate safety into daily project planning, including:
Steel tower erection
T-line rigging/crane operations
Energized line work and clearance protocols
Lead safety meetings, deliver tailgate talks, and coach field teams.
Manage site-specific incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
Work directly with line crews, project managers, and foremen to reinforce safety culture.
Support safety audits, recordkeeping, and compliance with OSHA and company standards.
Identify risks, halt unsafe work when necessary, and drive continuous improvement.
Provide real-time education and technical safety guidance to crews on-site.
What You'll Bring
Applicants must have:
Minimum 5–10 years of field safety experience in powerline construction
Hands-on experience with all aspects of Transmission Line construction (ex. EPZ, grounding/bonding, clipping/de-clipping, steel lattice structure, stringing wire,
And/ or Substation construction
And/ or BESS Construction
Former crew lead or foreman experience highly preferred
Must be comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and computers for documentation and reporting
Proven background in powerline safety with transmission line, and/or substation and BESS field experience
Excellent verbal communication and leadership skills, especially when coaching crews
Strong presence in the field—respected by both foremen and linemen
Comfortable training others, conducting observations, and writing safety reports
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and work independently under minimal supervision
Preferred Certifications (not required but strongly valued):
OSHA 500
First Aid/CPR/AED & Bloodborne Pathogens trainer
CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician)
Bi-lingual (Spanish/English)
Required Skills:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Familiarity with construction safety documentation platforms
Valid driver’s license required
