Types of procedures required.The Registered Nurse (RN) monitors, assesses, and evaluates patient conditions, providing specialized care to women during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period at various healthcare facilities. Key responsibilities include monitoring maternal and fetal health, assisting with labor management, offering patient education, supporting the delivery process, and providing postpartum care. The RN works closely with the healthcare team, including OB residents and attendings to ensure patient safety, documents care accurately, and responds to emergencies as needed. L&D RNs must be adaptable to different facility settings, policies, and shifts while maintaining high clinical standards. They prioritize and coordinate optimal patient flow and experience, deliver safe and effective care according to policies and procedures, and ensure appropriate documentation of patient assessments, changes in condition, care delivered, education provided, and any incidents related to standards of care or facility compliance.2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)Epic EMR, Obix fetal monitoring, Omnicell pharmacy management system, Philips fetal monitors, fetal scalp electrode and intrauterine pressure catheter (placed by residents and physicians only), fetal dopplers, Accucheck glucometer, manual blood pressure cuff, Medela Symphony breast pumps, GE Panda beds, Stryker Affinity 4 delivery beds, Sara Steady, JADA hemorrhage system, Cook catheter for cervical dilation, Neptune suction and Bovie grounding pad placement in OR.3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.At least two years of experience of high risk Labor and Delivery nursing4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)RN licensure for the State of Georgia or multi-state compact license. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate AWHONN Fetal Monitoring5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)12 hour shifts, 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, no call required, weekends are required6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)RNs with 2 years or greater High-risk L&D experience may train and float to the OBED if they would like to.7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.L&D- 12, Postpartum/Antepartum- 16, OBED-48. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only) Goal to staff to WHONN staffing guidelines; L&D 1:1-2 depending on acuity, PP/AP 1: 4-6 depending on acuity9. Dress Code:OR scrubs provided on unit10. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.Completion of a three day preceptor based Labor and Delivery specific orientation. L and ;D specific computer modules as well as Accucheck competency. Orientation competency checklist will be completed. Adheres to the L&D policies and procedures to ensure canditate: Has an understanding of the different processes and patient flow of Labor & Delivery, Antepartum and Postpartum.
