Description: This is a position for a registered nurse specializing in medical and surgical care with a focus on telemetry. The facility is a Level I trauma and teaching hospital with a comprehensive range of services. The unit typically holds 36 beds catering to diverse patient populations. Common patient diagnoses include bladder cancer, prostatectomy, kidney stones, and renal cancer. Patients often require fluid resuscitation, blood products, and management of various GI disorders and infections. Nurses will also care for patients undergoing kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants, including those experiencing acute rejection. The nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 1:4-6. Support staff may include charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and other essential personnel. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. Nurses are expected to float within the designated region and must be agreeable to travel between facilities as needed. Travel nurses may work every other weekend and are expected to work 75% of holidays. The unit also requires flexibility for scheduling, with potential for up to six approved days off, excluding holidays. Navy scrubs are the required attire for this position.
