ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities
Interns will be given special assignments depending upon their special interest and skills. The special assignment will expand their educational learning from the internship. They will have a mentor within the staff who supervises the special assignments. Inters will gain real-life work experience that compliments their education.
* Assist engineers and project manager in engineering planning, design, and construction support. * Provide support to department goals and objectives by coordinating special projects. * Research design specifications for inclusion in the project. * With supervision, will create/interpret maps, plats, construction drawings and plans for use both internally with the Department and also to assist in supporting construction of public works projects. * Assist Engineers and other staff members perform field/site investigations to determine applicable requirements. * Assist in the preparation of bid documents for the public works projects and the dissemination of the bid packet to prospective contractors. * May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Requires a minimum of two (2) years of college and applicants must be currently enrolled. Applicants must have successful completion with a minimum grade of "C" within the twelve (12) month period of the date of application to the City's Student Intern Program. * Applicants must be working towards a Bachelor's degree in the Engineering field. * A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
