Position Overview: The Technician is responsible for the effective installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems. This role requires technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent customer service to ensure that irrigation systems operate efficiently and meet customer needs. The ideal candidate is ambitious, with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a strong desire to contribute to the success of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Maintenance:

  • Design and layout new irrigation systems according to design specifications and local codes.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on existing irrigation systems to ensure proper functioning and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation system components, including points of connection, pipes, valves, controllers, sprinkler heads and micro-irrigation.
  • Use shovels and trenching equipment to safely excavate work areas.

Technical Expertise:

  • Possess a strong understanding of irrigation system components, hydraulic principles, electrical troubleshooting techniques and water conservation practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in irrigation systems.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to irrigation system installation and maintenance.

Customer Interaction:

  • Interact with customers professionally and courteously during service calls and installations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to explain irrigation system operation, maintenance procedures, and recommendations for optimal performance.

Problem-Solving:

  • Diagnose complex issues with irrigation systems and develop effective solutions to resolve them promptly.
  • Proactively identify potential problems and suggest preventive maintenance measures to customers.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports, installation logs, and inventory usage.
  • Provide detailed reports to supervisors and customers regarding work completed, and recommendations for system improvements.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills with the Backoffice team and management to ensure smooth operations and accurate reporting.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other technicians and contractors, and support staff to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Support colleagues by sharing knowledge, aiding, and participating in team meetings and training sessions.

Professionalism and Conduct:

  • Represent Sunrise Irrigation professionally and uphold our values of integrity, reliability, and excellence.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance while on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a can-do attitude, always seeking solutions and taking initiative to overcome challenges.
  • Adapt to a flexible work schedule, including overtime as needed. Workdays are considered complete when all tasks are successfully completed, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction

  • Actively seek opportunities for professional development and skill enhancement related to irrigation system installation and maintenance.
  • Participate in training programs and workshops provided by Sunrise Irrigation to expand your knowledge and expertise.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings to stay updated on company procedures and industry best practices.

Performance Metrics:

  • Meet or exceed performance goals and metrics related to service response times, customer satisfaction, and project completion timelines.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in technical skills, efficiency, and customer service delivery.

Driving and Licensing Requirements:

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Ensure the company vehicle is maintained in good condition and report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Adapt to a flexible work schedule, including overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme weather conditions.
  • Lift at least 75 lbs.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, relevant certifications preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Proven experience as an irrigation technician or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of irrigation systems, hydraulic principles, electrical troubleshooting and water conservation practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and repair complex issues.
  • Effective communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and lift heavy equipment.
