What You’ll Be Doing
Eligible to work in the USA without sponsorship requirements
Able to work a hybrid schedule
Actively participate in developments and proceedings before federal agencies including FERC, CFTC and DOE.
Coordinate comments and advocacy with regional Regulatory Affairs Staff on issues that affect gas, power marketing, carbon and trading activities, report on such developments to relevant groups within the company.
Coordinate regular meetings with legal and compliance to ensure awareness of activity across teams.
Monitor federal and state legislative activity and coordinate with Corporate Relations teams to ensure messaging alignment and timely distribution of information about any developments that impact company positions or operations.
Participate in and support team trade association activity to assist in deriving benefits from memberships, such as leveraging access to information and supporting advocacy efforts.
Ensure market behavior rule changes are included in Regulatory Affairs training.
Review rules and initiate due diligence of projects and deals being evaluated.
Support Shell Energy’s Regulatory Affairs initiatives, providing information and advice that are aligned with commercial priorities among trading, origination, and environmental products.
Manage outside counsel costs and participation in federal regulatory agency activity.
Monitor and analyze wholesale gas and electricity market design changes, and provide input on suggested improvements
Prepare reports and manage communications responding to inquiries from regulatory or government agencies.

What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Engineering, Economics or equivalent preferred).
Minimum of 5 years industry experience in energy regulation primarily in U.S. and specifically with federal agencies, i.e. FERC, CFTC, DOE.
Knowledge of existing and proposed gas and power regulations in U.S.
Ability to build and foster relationships across various internal and external stakeholders.
Must effectively operate within a challenging and dynamic work environment including managing a wide spectrum of energy issues and supporting group efforts on others.
Must have fundamental understanding of regulatory processes and strong technical writing skills.
Experience in power market design and rule changes is highly desirable
Strong personal relationship and communications skills are necessary and must be able to effectively work with regulatory agency staff and commissioners.
Ability to understand impacts of government policies on business and compliance activity and communicate the same to commercial groups and make recommendations on how to respond.
Technical and/or commercial understanding of retail and wholesale gas, power and carbon product markets; appreciation of license to operate concerns and compliance.
What We Offer
The base salary range for this position is $146,000 - $218,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
