Department/Unit Summary
Hours :
Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm ; Friday 8:30am-1:30p
2 years Oncology/Chemo experience preferred
Previous Oncology chemo infusion preferred but not required
Position Summary:
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Performs the delivery of Chemotherapy and other medications.
Coordinates multiple patient treatments in an efficient manner.
Provides phlebotomy, intravenous therapy, wound assessment and dressing changes.
Interprets lab values, reports to physician and assesses/implements potential treatment charges.
Provides patient education about diagnosis and treatment.
Performs the delivery of care, in accordance with quality and infection control standards.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of a Program in Professional Nursing required
Bachelor's degree preferred
2 years Oncology/Chemo experience preferred
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action .
Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure
continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.
