ChristianaCare Hospital is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) who is passionate about providing care for the elderly . In this important role, you will engage closely with patients, focusing on delivering high-quality care to those experiencing acute illnesses. The unit primarily serves older adults, typically aged 70 and above, who require specialized attention and support. Our mission is to prioritize the maintenance of function and independence, while also providing education to patients and their families.
Unit 6A is a 39-bed inpatient medical telemetry unit , specializing in Acute Care of the Elderly, that provides emergency care/procedures on a 24-hour basis. The area is designed to accommodate 39 patients who need inpatient care for the treatment of their diagnoses. Diagnoses/testing including, but not limited to, acute delirium, pneumonia, acute kidney injury, acute UTI, GI bleed, anemia, heart failure, COVID, Falls and related injuries or fractures, strokes.
The conditions of patients cared for can be described as fair to serious. The patients are received/transferred/admitted from the emergency department, observation unit, ICU, stepdown, and hospital care at home

Education & Requirements: Delaware RN License or Compact Nursing License is required. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required. Applicants must commit to obtaining a BSN within 3 years of hire date. All candidates must have at least one year of RN experience Preferred Experience: 2-3 years of experience in an inpatient Acute Care, Hospital setting, and Gerontology Certification. Demonstrate a passion for working with older adults. BLS required.
