Job Summary Delivering comprehensive patient care, you will follow the nursing process encompassing Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation. You will develop nursing care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Communication of any changes in patients' clinical conditions will be coordinated with Physicians, Nursing Supervisors/Managers, and colleagues as appropriate. Participation in discharge planning will also be key to your role. Essential Functions Maintain high standards of nursing care and adhere to hospital and nursing department policies. Supervise and assess the nursing care provided to patients. Delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff qualifications. Document thorough patient assessments, care plans, and relevant information in medical records according to nursing standards. Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of all patients as per policy. Refer patients to other disciplines based on comprehensive assessments. Formulate nursing care plans upon patient admission, updating as necessary, involving the patient and family in the process. Regularly assess and manage pain, educating patients and their families on effective pain management techniques. Continuously evaluate the nursing care plan's effectiveness based on patient responses to treatment. Perform patient care duties with consideration for the patients' specific age-related needs. Accurately receive and transcribe physician's orders while documenting their execution. Administer medications correctly, adhering to the five rights of medication administration. Create and evaluate teaching plans that address patient and family learning needs. Assist physicians in examinations and procedures, performing tasks within your scope of practice. Deliver compassionate care, addressing the psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families. Engage professionally with patients and families, involving them in their care plans. Interpret patient data to identify unique, age-specific needs. Ensure patient care is delivered safely, minimizing the risk of errors. Actively participate in emergency interventions when necessary. Manage patient communications and anticipate their needs through effective rounds. Collaborate with other departments for an integrated approach to patient care. Provide comprehensive reports to incoming nurses at the end of shifts, ensuring record accuracy. Communicate effectively with management, peers, and physicians. Identify and manage psychosocial needs, coordinating with Social Services as needed. Contribute to the training and orientation of new staff. Safely operate and manage medical equipment. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations In-depth knowledge of medications and their administration tailored to patient age and clinical condition. Basic computer skills. Able to prioritize tasks, develop action plans, and perform under pressure. Ability to foster positive working relationships across departments. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. Reliable attendance and dedication to the role. Willingness to perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Education Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. Licenses/Certification Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse. BCLS certification is required. ACLS certification preferred. Experience A minimum of six months' experience in Medical/Surgical within an acute care setting is preferred.
