Job Summary The Registered Nurse is responsible for the comprehensive planning and delivery of patient care through the nursing process: Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation. This role involves developing nursing care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff, while ensuring effective communication regarding patient conditions. Essential Functions Deliver nursing care in adherence to hospital policies and procedures. Supervise and evaluate care delivered to patients, ensuring high-quality standards. Delegate responsibilities based on patient needs and staff competencies. Document all assessments, plans, and patient care accurately and in a timely manner. Conduct thorough assessments at patient admission and modify care plans as necessary. Manage patient pain effectively and educate families on pain management strategies. Adapt care plans based on patient responses and evaluate effectiveness routinely. Provide age-appropriate care while respecting patient dignity and psychosocial needs. Ensure accurate transcription of physician orders and documentation of all care provided. Administer medications while adhering to best practices to minimize errors. Develop educational plans for patients and their families; assess and enhance learning outcomes. Assist with medical examinations, treatments, and procedures within scope of practice. Be a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring clear communication. Perform all care activities in a manner that promotes patient safety and quality care. Respond to emergencies with appropriate measures to stabilize patient conditions. Maintain timely communication with the healthcare team and participate in interdisciplinary collaborations. Provide a comprehensive shift handoff to the oncoming nurse, including medication counts and documentation checks. Participate in the orientation and training of new staff members. Utilize equipment safely and correctly in the patient care environment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of medications and appropriate administration based on age and condition. Basic computer skills and ability to manage documentation efficiently. Strong organizational and prioritization skills in high-pressure situations. Ability to foster positive working relationships within and across departments. Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken. Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic are essential. Willingness to undertake other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Graduated from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma accepted. Licenses/Certification: Current Registered Nurse state licensure required. BCLS certification is mandatory; ACLS certification is preferred. Experience: A minimum of six months of Medical/Surgical experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
