Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm
Individual will repair and/or rebuild railcars to specifications. The repairs generally require welding, metal working, and mechanical skills while under the guidance of a lead person, foreman/supervisor.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Welding experience and/or training helpful.
Other requirements:
Individuals must pass a pre-employment drug test.
During the first 90 days of employment, the employee will receive a 30, 60 and 90 day review; given by their supervisor.
Employee will receive study guides upon hire and will complete a written test at 30, 60 and 90 days. The employee is expected to successfully complete each of the tests.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Repairing and/or rebuilding railcars to specifications using the proper methods, tools and procedures; includes welding, metal working, and mechanical skills.
Proficient at using a variety of tools including but not limited to welders, carbon arc, cutting torches, grinders, pneumatic/hydraulic tools, torque wrenches, huck guns.
Ability to read and interpret documents including but not limited to work orders, operating procedures, and safety rules.
Ability to follow directions whether written or oral.
Ability to complete necessary paperwork legibly and according to specifications.
Ability to operate yard vehicles in a safe manner. Yard vehicles to include bobcat, forklift and scissor lift.
Ability to climb and work at heights of 14 feet or more to complete repair work.
Ability to work in confined spaces that may require but not limited to crawling, bending, twisting, reaching, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling.

Physical Demands:
Body Positions: Sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, lying on back or front, working in confined spaces and working at heights of 14 feet or more.
Body Movements: Walking, crawling, turning of head and body, bending, twisting, reaching, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling.
Torso, arms and fingers. Lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Assisted lifting (human or mechanical) 75 pounds to 100 pounds, climbing, gripping/grasping, pulling, pushing, reaching.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to Foreman/Supervisor, Lead Person
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Individual may be asked to assist in the training of new employees.
Training:
On-the-job training and constructive feedback provided.
Continuing education and training on company and rail industry standards and procedures.
Working Conditions:
Repair work is performed inside the repair shop as well as outside. Inside temperatures will vary throughout the seasons.
Each employee is required to provide their own safety toed boots. Boots must be above the ankle and composed of leather, with no mesh.
The company will provide the necessary tools and equipment to complete the work.
