Leidos is seeking a skilled Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under the NISC IV program . This role involves managing the radio frequency spectrum that enables safe air traffic communication in the National Airspace System (NAS). The ideal candidate will have experience in Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) investigations and analysis, conducting interference analysis using databases, logs, and on-site investigations. The engineer will collaborate with regulatory bodies, engineering teams, and project managers to ensure spectrum compliance and interference mitigation. Primary Responsibilities Monitor and report radio frequency interference affecting NAS operations. Evaluate and prioritize RFI reports based on urgency and impact. Conduct desk-based and on-site RFI investigations using RF analysis tools. Use spectrum analyzers, direction finders, and antennas to locate interference sources. Interpret technical data and apply mitigation practices to resolve RF interference issues. Coordinate with system users, engineering leads, and regional frequency managers. Prepare reports on interference issues, investigations, findings, and resolutions. Travel for on-site investigations as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; relevant experience may substitute. 3+ years of RF engineering and RFI investigation experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with spectrum analyzers and direction-finding equipment. Ability to learn FAA-specific software and systems. US citizen with an active SECRET security clearance. Reside in the Southeastern US, preferably Florida or Georgia. Preferred Qualifications Experience with RF modeling, frequency assignment tools, and databases. Knowledge of aeronautical maps, chart plotting, and RF mitigation practices. Ability to perform FSPL calculations, link budgets, and power conversions. Understanding of spectrum management roles within NAS and related policy organizations.
