What You Will Do
The Assurance Tools Team Leader will oversee a technically skilled team responsible for delivering data-driven tools that support enterprise-level performance assurance and continuous improvement. This role requires experience leading technical staff-particularly in software development and data analytics-and aligning their work with strategic organizational objectives. The successful candidate should demonstrate proficiency in managing analytics projects, software development lifecycles, and tool enhancement initiatives within complex enterprise environments. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential for engaging stakeholders and translating technical concepts to diverse audiences. Familiarity with structured improvement frameworks such as Lean, Six Sigma, ADKAR, and knowledge of LANL systems or DOE/NNSA directives, is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee development and continuous improvement of performance assurance software platforms and digital tools.
Collaborate on enterprise-wide performance assurance initiatives including risk management, metrics, audits, lessons learned, and corrective actions.
Collaborate with data analytics team in designing and delivering actionable institutional insights.
Engage internal and external stakeholders, including Federal partners, in advancing performance assurance outcomes.
Drive transformation using structured change management approaches (e.g., ADKAR).
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Team Leadership & Management: Proven ability to lead technical staff, manage workloads, and align team objectives with broader organizational goals.
Experience supervising software developers, data analysts, or IT tool administrators is highly desirable.
Data Analytics Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in building, leading, or contributing to analytics projects.
Familiarity with data architecture, metrics development, and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Software and Tool Development Oversight: Working knowledge of software delivery lifecycles, from requirement gathering to deployment and maintenance.
Experience managing or contributing to tool enhancement cycles in enterprise environments.
Process Improvement Orientation: Ability to assess tool and data workflows for improvement opportunities.
Experience applying structured improvement or change frameworks (e.g., Lean, ADKAR, Six Sigma) is a plus.
Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication skills to coordinate with stakeholders, end users, and IT partners.
Ability to translate technical updates for non-technical audiences and leadership.
Institutional Awareness (Preferred): Familiarity with LANL systems, performance assurance infrastructure, or DOE/NNSA directives is beneficial.
Security Clearance: Active DOE Q Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one (U.S. citizenship required).
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation .
Desired Qualifications: Familiarity with LANL mission, Laboratory Agenda, and DOE/NNSA directives (e.g., SD 226.1C, DOE O 414.1D).
Understanding and experience with Ideagen/Devon Way software platform
Deep understanding of national lab operational and mission environments.
Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
