Your Opportunity
The Warehouse Specialist receives, stocks and inventories all warehouse supplies. This position maintains warehouse in a neat and orderly manner, receives supplies, distributes supplies to customers and picks up supplies from local suppliers as necessary by performing the following duties.
The Veterinary Lab Tech will prepare and produce vaccines and run quality control routines. Sample handling for all diagnostic testing. Mix medications as needed by production. Perform general housekeeping and stock inventory.
Core Responsibilities
Receives all incoming freight and verify its integrity.
Performs local pickup of supply merchandise as necessary.
Monitors stock levels and notifies buyers of critical stock levels.
Fills faxed requisitions on a daily basis.
Ensures that all items requested have the correct item number, data entered and charged to the correct customer.
Performs monthly inventory audits and weekly audit verification at the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor.
Restock shelves from inbound freight.
Fills requisitions from walk in customers on a daily basis.
Assists all customers with supply needs.
Conducts all transactions in a courteous professional manner.
Maintains a clean, orderly and safe warehouse environment.
Identify and prepare samples for internal and external diagnostic testing without supervision. Prepare laboratory/regulatory paperwork for testing.
Vaccine production and quality control.
May perform laboratory testing such as: SIV ELISA, PRRS ELISA, M. hyo ELISA, fecal floatation, TPC, Quality Control Testing, PCR testing for PRRS, TGE and other diseases.
Work in fast paced environment with efficiency and accuracy, including computer-based data.
Maintain inventory and purchase supplies.
Clean and sanitize laboratory containers and tools.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including autoclaves, incubators, centrifuges, water bath, pumps, BIO-Tec reader, water distillation machine, automatic wall washer, thermal cycler, freezers and more.
Good communication skills and customer service-oriented attitude.
Operate UPS shipping system.
Manage Biohazard handling and sample disposal.
Perform tasks which may have objectionable odors.
Perform procedures involving chemicals.
Follow all IPS (safety), EMS, and laboratory policies.
Follow IATA diagnostic shipping regulations.
Work schedule may require flexibility including ability to work weekend days, holidays or evenings once candidate has demonstrated necessary technical ability.
Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield Hog Production subscribes.
Report all environmental issues immediately to their Supervisor.
Read and understand the company's emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their worksite.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, required.
Lab Experience preferred
Basic swine knowledge preferred
Must be able to lift >80 lbs.
Must have a valid Driver License with sound Driving Record.
Must have basic computer knowledge.
Must have a basic concept and understanding of Microsoft Office Products (Word and Excel).
Forklift and electric pallet jack usage.
