Job Summary:
As a Licensed Optician, you will be responsible for dispensing spectacles and other optical products for both adults and children, working with prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists. You will advise and assist patients on appropriate lenses and frames based on style, weight, and color.
The advertised pay range for this position does not include additional compensation provided through our spiff program.

Major Duties and Key Accountabilities:
Verify order data, ensuring accuracy with prescriptions from the doctor.
Provide exemplary member service in-person and over the phone, clearly explaining exam procedures and maintaining a pleasant demeanor.
Take necessary measurements, ensure correct frame selection, and effectively manage order notifications and transactions.
Drive sales by educating members on product benefits and recommending appropriate solutions for their visual needs.
Engage with members actively and supportively during downtime.
Adhere to privacy and confidentiality policies (e.g., HIPAA) as mandated by law.
Assist Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures, ensuring accurate financial transactions.
Maintain club policies and perform other assigned duties.
Regular attendance is essential for this role.
Qualifications:
Must hold a valid optician license and keep it active.
Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent; retail or optical experience is desirable.
Strong interpersonal, organizational skills, and attention to detail required.
Open availability preferred for part-time roles.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Working Conditions:
Frequent movement required on hard surfaces, with occasional bending, handling, reaching, and stooping.
Lifting objects up to 20 pounds is common; heavier lifting may require assistance.
Work takes place indoors with potential exposure to temperature extremes and noise.
Utilization of optical tools for adjusting and repairing eyeglasses, including precise manipulation of small parts.
In accordance with Pay Transparency requirements, BJ's Wholesale Club provides a good faith estimate of the pay range for this position, starting from $32.00. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as location, education, experience, and qualifications.
