Under the supervision of the Appeals Coordinator, this position is expected to exercise a high degree of initiative and independence in assuming the responsibility for providing clerical support for Inmate Appeals. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Utilizing a personal computer, will log and distribute all appeals from incarcerated people to appropriate staff. Pick up all appeals from incarcerated people from various designated areas within the institution. Upon retrieving appeals, date, screen and process appeals to route to appropriate appeals coordinators. Maintains current information using a personal computer database, regarding housing for incarcerated people for mailing of correspondence. Photocopy/scan appeals and file documents in a timely manner. Maintain confidential file system in appeals office for referencing. Notifies all unit administrators when appeals are delinquent or completed. Prepares a weekly notice to all Area/Unit Administrators regarding overdue appeals. Attends all training, meetings, and seminars as needed or required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real- time updates throughout the hiring process. Working Conditions
San Quentin Rehab Center is California’s oldest and best-known correctional institution, which was established on the site currently known as Point San Quentin, in July of 1852, as an answer to the rampant lawlessness in California at the time. The prison rests overlooking the bay on 432 acres and is located just 12 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the county of Marin. The walled prison is made up of four (4) large cell blocks (West, South, North, and East Block), one (1) maximum security cell block (the Adjustment Center), Central Health Care Service Building, a medium security dorm setting and a minimum-security firehouse.

The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired.
