This role in summary
Technicians perform various jobs within the Metrology Lab and Receiving Inspection
areas. These include routine inspection of production parts, layout inspection, and calibration of gages and
test equipment. Cross-training is required. Assigned responsibilities and duties vary.
Your responsibilities will include
Routine inspection of purchased or manufactured parts to verify conformance to requirements.
Layout inspection of pre-production samples from suppliers or manufacturing pilot runs to verify
conformance to specifications.
Basic statistical analysis and reporting of results.
Calibrate and maintain gages and test equipment.
Typical Duties
Inspect samples of purchased and InSinkErator manufactured parts.
Program, set-up and operate a wide variety of inspection and test equipment including CMM with PC-
DMIS software, optical comparator and computer assisted precision measurement instruments.
Conduct Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility studies, capability studies, and correlation studies.
Clean, adjust, calibrate and maintain gages and production test equipment.
Maintain accurate records and report results, including nonconformances, per procedures.
Cross-train others. Develop and implement improvements.
Coordinate with suppliers to develop measurement and test correlation.
Assist with SPC activities and root cause analysis.
Minimum requirements
High school diploma and additional technical courses/seminars in job related subjects
3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
3 years experience with measuring parts or gage and test equipment calibration.
Ability to read and understand part drawings using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Experience with using computers.
Ability to communicate well with all levels and functions of the organization.
Preferred skills and experiences
Associate Degree in a relevant discipline, or ASQ Certified Quality Technician or other relevant
certification.
5 years of experience in Quality, Engineering or another related field.
Experience with Minitab and programming CMM using PC-DMIS.
Extensive experience with inspecting parts or gage and test equipment calibration.
Experience with statistical studies and analysis and data acquisitions equipment.
