Medical Technologist

Job Summary:
As a Medical Technologist, you will play a vital role in performing stat and routine clinical laboratory testing in technical discipline areas under the direction of a Laboratory Supervisor, Manager, or Director. Your responsibilities include conducting laboratory tests, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining accuracy and timeliness of results. This role also involves non-technical duties such as specimen collection, processing, and referral testing within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Information System Proficiency: Become proficient in information system computer functions related to job duties.
- Accurate and Timely Testing: Demonstrate responsibility and accountability in performing accurate and timely laboratory testing, following section procedure manuals.
- Proficiency Testing: Analyze proficiency testing samples within the allowable time frame and adhere to instructions.
- Departmental Responsibility: Assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the supervisor, ensuring smooth workflow.
- Record Keeping: Complete all required records/documentation for patient results, pending logs, and result logs.
- Stat Procedures: Perform stat procedures within established turnaround time targets.
- Independent Judgment: Apply independent judgment in the correlation and interpretation of patient results, including performing delta checks.
- Quality Control: Perform quality control procedures per protocol, ensuring results are within acceptable guidelines. Take corrective action when necessary.
- Regulatory Compliance: Assist the supervisor in meeting department regulatory agency requirements (e.g., CAP).
- Equipment Operation: Operate all equipment correctly, perform periodic maintenance, and troubleshoot basic equipment malfunctions.
- Inventory Management: Monitor reagents and supply inventories, utilizing them appropriately.
- Education and Development: Maintain education and development appropriate for the position.
- Problem and Critical Specimens: Handle problem and/or critical laboratory specimens/test results according to established procedures in a timely manner.
- Education: A 2-Year/Associate Degree is required; a 4-Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is preferred.
- License: A State of Florida Technologist License is required, or the ability to obtain one during the interview process.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist is required.
- Shift: Full-time with rotating weekends. Shifts include Eves (2:30 PM - 11 PM) and Nights (10 PM - 6:30 AM) with various duration options.
- Experience Requirement: Must have at least 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Scientist.
- Shift Differentials: On Call - $2, Night Shift - $2.50.
- Sign-On Bonus: Night Shift - $10,000, Day Shift - $5,000.
Pay Range: $27.09 - $37.92 per hour
