The City of Sherwood is hiring for a Maintenance Worker II position. The salary range is $28.63 - $36.31 hourly. The job location is 15527 SW Willamette Street, Sherwood, OR.

This position involves a full-range of duties to maintain the City's infrastructure, including streets, sewer systems, parks, sports fields, facility maintenance, and water systems. It also includes operating, maintaining, and repairing various public works equipment. The position may involve training and orientation to volunteers, students, seasonal and newly assigned personnel on site policies and practices.

Distinguishing characteristics of this journey-level classification include performing the full range of duties to ensure that City infrastructure, systems, and facilities are maintained in a safe and effective working condition, providing the highest level of safety for public use. This position is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker III by the ability to perform more complex duties and from the Maintenance Worker I by the requirement to hold a commercial driver license (CDL) and other assignment-specific certifications.

Essential duties include cleaning, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing streets, sidewalks, pathways, and right-of-ways; installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing sanitary sewer and storm drain systems; installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing water systems; maintaining turf areas; maintaining parks and sports fields; performing special event tasks; operating various public works equipment; conducting monthly inspections throughout City facilities; and maintaining and organizing tool room and stock.

Auxiliary duties include providing assistance to other staff, maintaining proficiency by attending training and meetings, maintaining work areas in a clean and orderly manner, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Typical qualifications include general knowledge of the proper operation and maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment; ability to interact effectively with the public and employees; ability to operate all required vehicles and equipment; education and experience typically including a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience; special requirements/licenses including a valid driver's license and Class B Oregon Commercial Driver's License; and desirable qualifications including previous experience in a municipal public works department or in construction trades or water distribution experience.
