Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Pay Range: 100K-130K Location: Waukegan, Illinois
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401K
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and continuous improvement of the Maintenance Department. This role ensures that equipment, facilities, and production lines operate efficiently, safely, and reliably to support uninterrupted production and operational excellence. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this individual will work closely with the Production team and other key departments to drive maintenance initiatives and business goals.
Leadership & Supervision
Lead and supervise a team of 10+ maintenance technicians and support staff.
Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a high-performing team.
Maintenance Operations
Develop, implement, and oversee preventive (PM), predictive (PdM), and corrective maintenance programs.
Ensure optimal equipment uptime and reliability through well-planned maintenance schedules.
Maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective parts procurement and minimal lead times.
Budget & Inventory Management
Assist in the preparation and management of the maintenance budget.
Monitor expenses and ensure efficient allocation of maintenance resources.
Manage the spare parts inventory, balancing availability with cost control.
Safety & Compliance
Foster a culture of safety and accountability.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies, OSHA regulations, and other applicable standards.
Equipment & Facility Oversight
Schedule and supervise routine inspections of all production equipment and infrastructure.
Lead or coordinate urgent repairs to minimize production downtime.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment manuals, inspection reports, and work orders.
Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, increasing efficiency, and extending equipment life.
Drive performance metrics and best practices in alignment with organizational goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field .
Proven experience managing maintenance teams in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, mechanical and electrical systems, and industry safety standards.
Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
Proficient in CMMS and Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and adapt to fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
