Who You Are - Are you someone who care deeply about supporting justice involved with co occurring disorders such as SUD or mental health? We are looking for a licensed clinical therapist who has managerial or experience and has experience directing a program; the idea candidate has worked with the justice involved population or similar populations with co-occurring disorders.
Who We Are - We are a team professionals working in a non profit space dedicated to improving the lives of San Diego adults by helping incarcerated individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders as they prepare for re-entry into the community and create a new beginning. Program goals include educating clients about mental health, substance use and coping mechanisms, decreasing instances of relapse, diminishing the impact of untreated health, mental health and/or substance use issues, and reducing recidivism.
This is a full time position with a robust benefit package with a team dedicated to improving the lives of San Diegans.
Position Overview
Role Purpose : Plans, organizes, directs, and integrates the program providing expert assistance on mental health and substance use-related matters.
Reports To : Program Director-PIR Programs.
Key Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
Outreach and Engagement : Develop and maintain programs for incarcerated individuals at risk of substance use and psychiatric disorders.
Service Integration : Lead field-based services integrating mental health, recovery services, case management, and crisis intervention.
Assessments : Conduct assessments for substance use, mental health issues, and other related needs.
Supervision : Supervise documentation, program records, and quality improvement of case files.
Safety and Coordination : Ensure safety policies are enforced and coordinate care with various community resources.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge : Management principles, therapeutic modalities, correctional facility procedures, and community resources.
Skills : Planning, directing, integrating case management, and effective communication.
Experience : A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from a Master’s or Doctorate Degree program from an accredited university in the field of social work, behavioral sciences, psychology or a related field, and four years of progressively responsible experience in a mental health setting, including two years at a managerial level supervising counselors or case managers; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience with motivational interviewing. Experience in working with corrections and/or incarcerated adults in alcohol or other substance use treatment setting is required.
Licenses, Certifications and Special Requirements: Master’s degree and or Doctorate degree in the field of Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Sociology, and or Justice involved degree. Licensed or License eligible. Good driving record. CPR/First Aid Certified. Must obtain and maintain a valid Criminal Background and Sheriff’s Department Clearance. TB test required upon hire and must be maintained every four (4) years.
Physical and Mental Demands
Physical : Ability to sit or stand for long periods, lift up to fifty pounds, and use standard office equipment.
Mental : Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to handle complex situations and interactions.
Field-Based : Services provided in correctional facilities, community settings, or clients' homes.
