About the Role
In this role you will partner with fellow Swiss Re legal specialists, including reinsurance and insurance attorneys, dispute resolution, compliance, corporate governance, employment, and intellectual property experts on legal advisory matters. As well as collaborate with senior legal leadership in the creation of legal reports, team KPIs, strategic initiatives, etc.
Key responsibilities include:
Advise Swiss Re's US Life & Health (L&H) reinsurance business and other business units on: US law, with an emphasis on reinsurance and insurance regulation.
Reinsurance and business-related agreements.
New product development, marketing efforts, in-force management, and structuring internal and external business relationships.
A wide range of other legal topics and business activities.
Obtain regulatory approvals for transactions and activities.
Support internal projects for Swiss Re's L&H reinsurance business, working closely and collaboratively with a diverse group of business colleagues including structurers, marketers, underwriters, claims experts, actuaries, and other cross-functional peers.
Share learnings with your team to drive simplicity, promote consistency, and increase agility.
This role involves a willingness to learn and support Property & Casualty advisory, while sharing your Life & Health knowledge, ensuring continued bench strength within our team.
About the Team
This Legal Counsel position is part of the US and Canada Legal Advisory Team that provides holistic legal support to our North American (US and Canadian) reinsurance business. The team leader, to whom you would report, reports to the Americas Regional General Counsel.

About You
An excellent communicator with a pragmatic and consultative approach to problem-solving. You enjoy a fast-paced environment and have a track record of effectively managing competing demands. A team player, you naturally work collaboratively and constructively with others.
US qualified attorney with a minimum of seven years' experience with a law firm or (re)insurance company.
Experienced in advising on US reinsurance and insurance law and regulation, with an emphasis on Life & Health (re)insurance.
Detail-oriented and dedicated to providing high-quality, timely client service that is balanced with a clear focus on protecting the interests and reputation of the firm.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $156,000 to $240,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
