The Alliance is a diverse association that includes a growing membership, an expanding member services offering and a media organization with 9 brands producing print magazines, events, e-newsletters, websites, research and video.
We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to assist with reviewing individual contracts for the Alliance’s many events held throughout the U.S. with attendance ranging from 20 people to 40,000+ people. This is a project-based, part-time position (20 to 25 hours per week).
Responsibilities:
Reviewing and modifying event vendor contracts including hotel, venue, dinner, audio visual, golf, keynote speaker, security, photography, entertainment, registration terms and conditions, event rules, regulations and policies, etc.
Reviewing and modifying corporate vendor contracts
Drafting miscellaneous contracts for custom projects
Mark/revise all contracts (using Track Changes in MS Word) to bring the contracts into conformity with the standards/preferences of the Alliance and send the marked contracts back to the General Counsel
Conduct legal research related to contractual issues, data privacy regulations, etc.
Providing administrative support to the General Counsel as needed
Education/Experience Needed:
Bachelor’s degree or associate degree program approved by the ABA preferred, or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program
5 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably with a focus on business contract review and/or drafting
Proficiency in MS Word, with an emphasis on familiarity using Track Changes to markup/comment on documents, familiarity with MS Outlook, MS Teams, MS File Explorer and some familiarity with Adobe, primarily for converting PDFs to Word
Working knowledge of contract law and risk management principles
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
High degree of professionalism and confidentiality
