Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Kitchen Cook to manage food preparation and planning for our facility. This part-time position plays a vital role in ensuring nutritious, well-prepared meals are available for large groups. The ideal candidate will be organized, skilled in cooking, able to manage kitchen inventory, and confident in directing volunteer kitchen staff. In addition, this role includes responsibility for food sales and service during weekend dance events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare meals for large groups as scheduled (not daily)
- Oversee kitchen operations including cleanliness, safety, and inventory management
- Shop for groceries and kitchen supplies within budget
- Maintain organized kitchen records and inventory logs
- Supervise and direct volunteer cooks and servers
- Coordinate and prepare food for weekend dance events, including food sales
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations
- Assist with occasional special events or catering needs as required
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in cooking for large groups or in a commercial kitchen
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to plan balanced and appealing menus
- Comfortable managing and delegating to volunteer kitchen staff
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Weekend availability is a must
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in inventory management and basic budgeting
- Familiarity with preparing food for events or concessions
- ServSafe certification or equivalent (or willingness to obtain)
