A newly capitalized, high-growth player in the annuity and reinsurance space, this company is part of a broader strategy to build a global alternative credit and insurance platform, with significant capital committed to fuel its expansion.
Responsibilities:
· Develop and maintain the organization’s investment accounting policies, ensuring alignment with all applicable accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
· Serve as a technical expert on investment-related accounting standards issued by the NAIC, FASB, and IASB, as well as risk-based capital standards established by the NAIC.
· Monitor, evaluate, and communicate the impact of changes—proposed or enacted—in accounting and capital standards that may affect the organization.
· Conduct technical accounting research related to new investment strategies or financial instruments.
· Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and analysis of investment-related financial results, including preparation of standardized reporting packages for management and board review.
· Drive the investment forecasting process in support of the Actuarial, FP&A, and Risk functions.
· Collaborate with Actuarial, Controllership, Risk, Treasury, and Information Technology teams to develop a unified investment planning and reporting ecosystem using shared technology platforms.
· Partner with Information Technology to automate and standardize reporting and analytics processes.
· Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to investment accounting and reporting are complete, accurate, and regularly updated.
Education and Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
· 5–7 years of relevant experience in investment accounting, finance, or a related function.
· Strong knowledge of investment products, structures, and performance analysis under varying market conditions.
· Experience with financial modeling and forecasting investment cash flows.
· Life insurance and annuity industry experience is a plus.
· Proven ability to analyze and report on complex investment portfolios.
· Solid understanding of financial systems, process flows, and internal controls.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
· Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
· Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
