Annual Salary around $240k-$300k, varying depending on years of experience A leading academic medical center in a major metropolitan area is seeking a visionary Director of Geriatric Medicine to lead its division dedicated to the care of older adults. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of geriatric care, education, and research within a diverse and dynamic urban health system. The Director will oversee clinical operations, faculty development, educational programming, and scholarly initiatives, while collaborating across departments to enhance care for aging populations. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a long-term vision for excellence in geriatric care. Manage divisional operations, including budgeting, staffing, and program development. Lead recruitment, mentorship, and retention of faculty and advanced practice providers. Represent the division in institutional planning and interdisciplinary initiatives. Ensure high-quality, patient-centered care across inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings. Promote innovative care models tailored to the needs of older adults. Establish clinical benchmarks and lead quality improvement efforts. Collaborate with other specialties to integrate geriatric principles across the health system. Oversee educational activities for medical students, residents, and fellows. Support the growth and excellence of the geriatrics fellowship program. Mentor faculty in teaching and curriculum development. Contribute to continuing medical education and interprofessional learning. Foster a collaborative research environment focused on aging and health equity. Support faculty in securing funding and publishing scholarly work. Build partnerships with academic and community organizations to advance research impact.
Requirements: MD or DO with board certification in Geriatric Medicine and a primary specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine or Family Medicine). Eligibility for medical licensure in New York State. Demonstrated leadership experience in academic medicine and geriatrics. Strong clinical background with a commitment to health equity and aging populations. Proven track record in medical education and faculty development. Experience in quality improvement and interdisciplinary collaboration. Experience in program development and strategic planning.
