Summary
: The Intern, Field Service Process position will assist in project execution and strategy development for both current and future states. This position will work closely with the VP of Service, Department Managers of Service, and Field Service Experts to develop actionable projects and useful tools to improve the service process and profit generation. The ideal candidate will be able to handle and develop multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
The ideal candidate should be an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering or Paper Science Engineering. The applicant must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, exhibit excellent problem-solving and data analysis abilities, and demonstrate creativity and self-motivation. The ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment is also essential for this position. Responsibilities: Support Field Service Experts in evaluating and optimizing manufacturing and chemical processes either on customer sites or remotely
Assist with troubleshooting product behavior on paper machines from a chemical or process perspective
Collect and analyze process data to improve operational efficiency and quality
Support projects related to energy use, chemical usage, and process control
Document process improvements and develop SOPs
Work with a mentor from the Service team on a defined project
Present a final project review to peers and management Required Skills/Abilities: Pursuing a degree in Chemical/Process Engineering, Paper Science Engineering , or a related field
Knowledge of heat/mass transfer, fluid dynamics, and chemical systems
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with data tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) is a plus
Comfortable working in industrial environments
Ability to travel % of the time Education and Experience: Undergraduate or graduate student working towards their degree in one of the following areas: Chemical/Process Engineering and Paper Science Engineering. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift to pounds at times
Service work consists of considerable time on and around machinery including paper machines. You must be comfortable in an industrial environment.
