Intermediate/Senior Proposal Writer Amentum is looking for an Intermediate or Senior Proposal Writer with experience writing narrative (management/technical), past performance, and/or resume sections in response to US Federal Government RFPs. This position is part of a highly collaborative proposal writing team and reports to the Intelligence & Cyber Business Group's Director, Proposal Writing & Content Quality. This position is a hybrid telework/office position requiring the ability and willingness to meet the proposal team in classified spaces in the DC metro area.
Responsibilities:
Writes compliant, responsive, and compelling proposals in response to federal RFPs
Must be willing to serve as volume lead or book boss for proposal volumes, working proactively to meet all deadlines and color review benchmarks
Analyzes the RFP (or other solicitation notice) to understand the customer's instructions and evaluation criteria, and writes proposal sections that are responsive to these requirements and are easy for government evaluators to score
Interviews subject matter experts to gather information needed to respond to RFP requirements, and coordinates inputs from multiple experts, documents, and databases
Collaborates with proposal teams to articulate approaches, win themes, and discriminators in written content
Tracks deadlines and effectively plans work to meet all proposal schedule milestones
Engages with the proposal team virtually and in-person from Draft RFP through Gold Team
Identifies and documents risks to proposal compliance, schedule, and quality, and works with the proposal manager and other team members to resolve these risks
Reviews proposal drafts and provides recommendations to improve compliance, responsiveness, and scorability
Provides high-quality editing or overwriting support
Works with knowledge manager to update proposal library
Collaborates with other members of the writing team to continuously improve and maintain proposal writing tools
Mentors junior writers and other proposal contributors
Minimum Requirements:
Must have an active Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret Clearance.
Have experience as a dedicated Proposal Writer for US Government customers
Ability and willingness to meet the proposal team in classified spaces in the DC metro area (primarily the Dulles/Chantilly area of northern Virginia)
Intermediate Proposal Writer candidates will also have experience:
Leading past performance and/or resume sections with minimal oversight
Supporting content development for narrative sections (i.e., technical, management)
Analyzing and understanding RFP instructions and evaluation criteria
Interviewing proposal contributors (SMEs, solutions architects, etc.) to gather information, and then drafting and collaboratively iterating the content to meet proposal color review deadlines and standards
Identifying proposal issues, escalating proposal risks, and effectively communicating with proposal teams and leadership to resolve or mitigate these risks
Senior Proposal Writer candidates will meet the minimum experience requirements for the Intermediate Proposal Writer, plus have experience:
Leading large, complex narrative proposal responses
Leading collaborative teams of proposal contributors (SMEs, writers, etc.) and being accountable for a unified proposal response
Contributing to proposal win themes, strategy development, and graphic design ideas
Participating in solution development sessions with proposal teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Top Secret Security Clearance
