Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist in Charge experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An immediate opportunity is available for an Interim Pharmacist in Charge / Director of Pharmacy to manage pharmacy operations within an inpatient behavioral health setting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, effective medication management and regulatory compliance during the interim period until a permanent hire is established.
Location: Columbia, MO
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (30-minute unpaid meal break)
Start Date: April 29, with a 2-day cross-training period; full independent responsibility begins May 1
Duration: Until permanent position is filled
Type: Contract
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring accurate dispensing and compliance with hospital protocols
- Manage inpatient behavioral health medication distribution and inventory
- Utilize technology such as Omnicell and automated dispensing systems
- Repackage medications using systems like Milt, Medi-dose, or HCL
- Perform regular restock reports and manage automated drug-loading processes
- Ensure adherence to state pharmacy regulations and safety standards
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient medication therapy
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Missouri Pharmacist license required
- Proven experience as Pharmacist in Charge in a hospital or inpatient setting
- Familiarity with Omnicell systems and other automated medication management technology preferred
- Experience with medication repackaging systems (Milt, Medi-dose, HCL) is highly desirable
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with attention to detail
