We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Housekeeping Porter to join our Housekeeping team. In this role, you will ensure the cleanliness and safety of our facility, assist with transporting equipment and supplies, and support the overall operations of our long-term care home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of public areas, hallways, and resident common spaces.
  • Assist housekeeping staff with removal of waste, laundry, and soiled linens.
  • Restock housekeeping carts and supply closets.
  • Transport equipment, supplies, and furnishings as needed within the facility.
  • Respond to urgent cleaning or portering needs (e.g., spills, accidents).
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of biohazard and infectious materials in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Perform light maintenance or room setup duties when required.
  • Collaborate with nursing and support staff to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents and families.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or porter services, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving bending, pushing carts, lifting, stooping, stretching, walking, and working overhead.
  • Strong understanding of infection prevention and control practices.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Flexible to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
