Overview The role of a Federal Law Enforcement Officer is multifaceted and demanding. It requires individuals who are capable of balancing investigative and protective responsibilities with poise, professionalism, and dedication.
This position involves providing security for high-ranking government officials, foreign dignitaries, and sensitive areas. Travel may be required in support of presidential, vice-presidential, and international missions.
As a Federal Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Key Responsibilities Protection: Provide protection for high-ranking government officials, foreign dignitaries, and their families, as well as other sensitive areas.
Travel: Support presidential, vice-presidential, and international missions.
Requirements Citizenship: Be a U.S. citizen.
Licensing: Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Age: Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time of conditional employment offer.
Firearm Proficiency: Carry and use a firearm; maintain firearm proficiency.
Vision: Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular, or corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
Hearing: Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges.
Background Check: Submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing while occupying the position.
Training: Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center.
Selective Service: Certify registration with the Selective Service System or exemption if applicable, as a male applicant born after December 31, 1959.
