Peckham Inc., a leading nonprofit specializing in vocational rehabilitation, is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our Construction division. This role focuses on maintaining and repairing various types of construction machinery and equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and safety. Ideal candidates will possess a strong understanding of mechanical systems and have a passion for problem-solving in a dynamic, supportive environment aimed at personal and professional growth. Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on heavy construction equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, and cranes, Diagnose mechanical issues and correct them by replacing or repairing parts in hydraulic, pneumatic, and other systems, Conduct regular safety inspections of machines and equipment to comply with industry standards and safety regulations, Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and machine statuses using both manual and computerized data entry, Collaborate with a team of mechanics and maintenance staff to manage parts inventory and ensure availability of necessary materials, Provide guidance and support to junior mechanics and trainees, fostering an environment of learning and inclusion. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems, Proficient in the use of all tools and equipment required for heavy equipment maintenance and repair, Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and service manuals, Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
