BASIC FUNCTIONS: Performs a variety of responsible clerical duties requiring specialized knowledge and independent judgment involving frequent and responsible public contact; arranges for students to receive health services. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE OF: Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Telephone techniques and etiquette.
Record-keeping and filing techniques.
Appropriate medical terminology related to assigned functions.
Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
District organization, operations, policies and objectives related to assigned function.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Oral and written communication skills.
Operation of a computer. ABILITY TO:
Perform responsible and complex clerical work involving independent judgment and requiring accuracy, speed and confidentiality.
Understand and interpret rules, District policies and written directions and apply to specific situations; when appropriate, contact Supervisor for direction.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
Meet schedules and time lines.
Work independently with little supervision.
Plan and organize work in accordance with directions from Supervisor.
Work confidentially with discretion.
Maintain records and prepare reports.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Type at 50 words net per minute from clear copy.
Make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Operate a variety of office equipment such as computer, typewriter, and copy machine.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and responsible clerical experience. Possess a valid California driver’s license.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
High School Diploma OR equivalent OR
Associate's Degree or Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Education Degree
AND
Typing Certificate at 50 words net per minute from clear copy
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATES: ATTACH TO APPLICATION per district standard: current typing certificate (within last 6 months) for 50 NWPM (5-minute test with 5 or less errors). Original typing certificate must be verified. Internet certificates are not acceptable. A practical job skills test may be administered as part of the interview process. If selected for the position, out-of-district applicants must be T.B tested and fingerprinted
