Summary The position directs, administers and works with all levels of plant personnel. Oversees and administers the functionality and application of the of the HACCP and SSOP programs. Must have initiative with willingness to follow through on a timely basis ensuring that documentation and proper actions are taken in regard to the guideline of the written program. Supervisory responsibilities also include the supervision of the QA department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for commitment to safety and health of employees, which includes but is not limited to safety and health awareness training, incident investigations and promoting safe work practices. Assist FSQA Manager in monitoring HACCP and SSOP programs daily including data collection, coordination and distribution; ensure paperwork is accurately completed and recorded as required, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and complete and work is performed in compliance with company, regulatory and Federal, State and local policies, guidelines and laws Maintains good communication and working relationship with site ops team and quality team members while ensuring that all USDA regulations are being followed. Develop and maintain relationship with USDA acting as liaison between complex and USDA to facilitate communication of new processes or operations changes, microbiological information or when issues arise Communicate and provide adequate training and understanding to production personnel and food safety team members relative to GMPs, food safety policies and regulations. Interfaces with facility team to assist in problems solving with root cause analysis when investigating program deviations. Oversight of the HACCP and SSOP programs to include reassessments. Conduct monthly food safety and GMP audits. Daily review of HACCP/SSOP records. Coordination with plant supervision and management team regarding NR responses. Full participation in internal and 3rd party audits. Lead, guide and direct Food Safety Team. Provide monthly reports and graphs pertaining to role and responsibilities and additional tasks as assigned by QA Manager. Assist in the preparation of customer specs. Back-up to the FSQA Supervisors. Perform additional relevant duties as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Advanced knowledge of USDA food safety regulations (HACCP; SSOP; Labeling; Nutrition etc.) Basic experience with GFSI audits preferred. (i.e.BRC; SQF) Advanced experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel; Word Powerpoint; Outlook) Expert technical writing, reading and comprehension skills. Strong interpersonal communication and oral presentation skillset. Advanced math and analytical skills. Strong work ethic and integrity. Must be flexible with willingness to adapt to fast paced environment. Education and/or Experience Minimum of 2 years HACCP experience poultry further processing or slaughter preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Poultry Science, Biology or related field preferred. Knowledge/Skills HACCP certification required Supervisory Responsibilities Ability to work with limited or no supervision. Supervises and directs QA department in absence of FSQA Manager. Physical Demands Position requires sitting up to 10 hours. Applicant must also be able to stand and/or walk for up to to 10 hours with ability to climb ladders, kneel and/or squat. Position also requires daily lifting (up to 49 lbs.). Work Environment The work environment primarily consists of an office setting. Applicant will be exposed to cold, wet, humid and hot environments on occasion.
