Quad, West Allis is seeking a Forklift Operator-day shift. This individual would accurately identify, move, and process various products and materials throughout the plant. This is accomplished through material handling, servicing of production machines, and other manufacturing duties as needed, and requires use of various pieces of Powered & Industrial equipment, desktop and mobile PC’s, and scanning equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Load and unload product and materials from trucks and verify shipment counts, condition, and document shortages and damage. Proper block brace
Understand the Details of loading. Must have a full grasp on all departmental smartools, including but not limited to: RF Driver, Product Request, Inventory Maintenance, LB-2, P2B-2, and Freight Management Systems. Review RF program, to make sure all skids are physical and ready to be loaded, if not Identify when skid/s will be physical, Make sure you are loading correct trailer, by matching it with what is showing in RF driver application, determine what type of product will be loaded, and how many floor spots on trailer are needed. Distribute the load evenly throughout the trailer.
Understanding outbound packaging and skid type, will handle WIP, Newsstand, Bulk, and Mail skids. Also, must identify what type of packaging is required, Wood tops, or Cardboard tops, corner protectors, type of wrap, compression of wrap, straps, and how many are needed.
Understanding warehousing limitations and layouts, which include the HDSS system, and using a conventional warehouse layout
Have the knowledge to fix and maintain automated systems, including Packaging/Auto-wrappers,
VNA, AGV, etc.
Different equipment used: Forklifts(multiple attachments) used for the in-feeding process of the VNA, Bed Loading, which is used for loading Postal sacks on DMU post office loads
Work independently to identify potential problems and correct them with minimal assistance. If help is needed, know where to go to get help.
Other job duties may include: maintaining the dispatch schedule, checking drivers in/out, and preparing and signing shipping/receiving documentation.
Correctly identify and/or deliver product properly and efficiently to machines, while understanding operations, job schedules, and instructions.
Interpret job instructions to locate product/supplies and move, stack, and unstack various products and materials throughout the plant through the use of Powered & Industrial Equipment (Forklift, Handtruck, etc) or manually.
Perform all necessary functions of product handling, including but not limited to, cartoning, labeling, skid piling, processing product through wrapping and strapping equipment, and assigning location of product with scanning and barcode system
Maintain a clean and organized work area and plant floor.
Actively participate and follow all Safety regulations, policies, and initiatives. Including performing daily maintenance inspections and reporting any issues of concern to the appropriate leader.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis
Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree
Experience: 1 year of minimum manufacturing experience is preferred. Must complete all IC and Freight Material Handler ACT materials and Graduate from all ACT phases. Must have adequate job knowledge of the entire business area and be able to perform all departmental job functions on a day-to-day basis.
