SUMMARY: The Food Service Assistant Supervisor works as an integral part of the Food Service Team. The Food Service Assistant Supervisor performs, but is not limited to, the following duties: supports and assists the Food Service Supervisor in planning and organizing the work of the department to ensure safe and efficient operations. When necessary perform CPR including the Heimlich maneuver. This position requires a flexible schedule including 1 st and 2 nd shifts which will include weekends and holidays. The agency has the right to change shifts based on the needs of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Position Specific Duties Assists in organizing schedules, assign kitchen duties, and review quality of work performed by kitchen staff. Assists in preparation of monthly menus and weekly production lists for three meals daily, seven days a week. Responsible for preparation and cooking daily meals in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporative standards, guidelines and regulation to ensure high quality food services. Assist with weekly food orders and maintain relationships with a variety of vendors. Responsible for picking up orders at the food bank as needed. Assists in monitoring the kitchen financial standards by providing annual budget information, monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions. Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including all kitchen equipment. Handles, stores, and rotates all products properly. Maintain walk-in cooler and freezer in accordance with Board of Health regulations. Observe all health and safety requirements. Ability to climb three flights of stairs to deal with emergencies. Ability to respond to emergency situations by placing calls to Fire, Rescue, Police, and Medical, etc.
Administrative Tasks: Complete all required documentation in a timely manner. Perform program recordkeeping and filing, and organize vital documents. Provide telephone coverage for the assigned department and direct calls to other programs as needed. Participate in required supervisions, staff meetings, and trainings. Participate and cooperate in any investigations conducted by internal and external agencies. Ability to use a computer including inputting information into data systems
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Food Service Assistant Supervisor must perform each essential function satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge/skill and/or ability required. Completion of four years of culinary arts in high school preferred. Minimum of three years' experience cooking. Minimum of one-year experience in leadership and management. Serve Safe Certification required. Ability to reach, bend stoop and lift up to 40 pounds. Require a valid driver's license due to business-related travel.
