FOIA Analyst
Kreative Kascade LLC is seeking a FOIA Analyst, Public Trust clearance eligible individual who has expertise in the areas of FOIA (Freedom of Information Act).
Primary Job Functions:
Three (3) years of experience in FOIA protocols and the Federal Policy as it relates to processing timely FOIA requests, including conducting quality control checks of FOIA work products.
Assist with the ICE FOIA processing platform. This work consists of accessing pre-scanned images of records and logging certain information into ICE’s FOIA Request Tracking System (Secure Release, eDiscovery) to create a FOIA case file.
Maintain database which will contain all FOIA requests, Privacy Act requests and FOIA appeals. Create a new database entry for each new request, appeal and update each entry as needed throughout the life of the request/appeal, and date stamp new requests received by mail/email/web.
Review FOIA requests against defined set of business rules using web-based review platform
Working with POCs and/or document holders to gather potentially responsive documents
Reviewing documents to determine whether responsive and complete
Determine whether FOIA exemptions apply to records and redact any non-releasable portions
Redacting documents using Adobe or reviewing appropriateness of redactions others make
Quality check/review all products before submitting to government for legal review and signature.
Drafting FOIA response letters.
Provide weekly reports on the status of responses to FOIA requests.
Perform all other duties as assigned under the FOIA/PA (Privacy Act) guidelines.
Skills and Requirement:
Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and its amendments
Knowledge of legal interpretations of the FOIA as it affects exemptions and release of documents
Knowledge of reporting requirements under FOIA
Proficiency working with FOIA Exemptions 5, 6, and 7
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Analytical and critical thinking skills
Proficient use of FOIAXpress, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel
Ability to learn new software and FOIA/PA related technologies
Current or Previous experience with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) preferred.
Experience with Secure Release preferred
Required:
US Citizen
Bachelor’s degree

Primary Place of Performance: 5 00 12th Street, SW, Washington, DC 20024. Remote work is authorized.
