We have an opening for a Fiber Network Engineer/Coordinator in the Tucker, GA area. This role will support planning, design, coordination, testing, and operational oversight for our expanding middle-mile fiber network. This role bridges OSP fiber engineering with network reliability coordination and NOC collaboration. It is ideal for candidates who are strong communicators, detail-oriented, and technically adept in both field and transport environments.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline Substantial relevant industry experience and certifiaations will be considered in lieu of a degree 3+ years of experience in OSP fiber design, engineering, or construction coordination Strong understanding of fiber network infrastructure Experience coordinating with or working alongside a NOC or network operations team Familiarity with network fundamentals: IP addressing, DHCP, VLANs, Layer 1/2/3 devices Proficient in reading fiber test results and OTDR traces for diagnostics and documentation Working knowledge of CAD, GIS, or fiber management systems (e.g., AutoCAD, OSPInsight, ArcGIS, Vetro, CrescentLink) Job Details: Perform or review OSP fiber route designs, including aerial and underground paths Support field walkouts, permitting, and make-ready engineering reviews Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders (vendors, construction crews, NOC, and network operations) Interface with the Network Operations Center (NOC) to: Monitor equipment and network reliability Track and respond to network events and alarms Follow up on outages, escalate issues, and assist with resolution Participate in an on-call rotation to support after-hours network events and outage response Support field crews for fiber optic testing using OTDR, power meters, and visual fault locators (VFL) Assist with troubleshooting and commissioning during network activations or failures Contribute to accurate optical budgets by assessing splice loss, connector loss, and cable attenuation Interpret construction drawings, splice plans, OTDR traces, and fiber schematics for validation and troubleshooting Maintain documentation of project status, redlines, as-builts, certification reports, and fiber asset records Assist with updating and organizing network diagrams, rack layouts, splice logs, and test reports Ensure compliance with best practices in cable management, labeling, bend radius, grounding, and environmental protection.
