Position summary: JMT is seeking an experienced Facilities Construction Inspector willing to work in Charles County, MD, and one that is capable of performing field inspection duties. The construction projects will include water and wastewater facilities, as well as water utility work. The Inspector will primarily provide construction project oversite to ensure quality field work. This position is not eligible for employer based sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification.

Essential skills and responsibilities
Construction Inspection
Interpret construction plans, specifications, requests for information (RFIs), submittals/shop drawings, and industry standard codes
Evaluate field work to ensure compliance with project specific requirements and industry standard practices
Coordinate between contractor and engineer to correct non-conforming work and resolve project related issues
Maintain an accurate set of as-built drawings that incorporates field changes, RFIs, and submittals
Witness and confirm field testing performed by others
Prepare detailed daily reports that accurately reflect daily field activities
Required Skills
Proficient written and verbal communication skills
Strong work ethic. Willing to do what it takes to get the job done
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Knowledgeable in construction testing, inspection and commissioning requirements
Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
Required Experience
5 years of experience in construction inspection and/or construction management
3 years of experience on water/wastewater construction projects
Experience using Electronic Project Management Programs
High School diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
Preferred Experience
Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering
Ability to act in an Owner’s agent/responsible in charge role
Experience working with governmental agencies at the federal, city, county and state levels
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both an office and field (construction) environment. Office to field time is approximately 30% to 70% respectively. Field work requires climbing, walking and standing at a construction site and may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs.) may be required.
