Blue Orange is seeking a skilled and passionate Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and modern data technologies. You should have a strong ability to gather business requirements for data transformations and ensure data quality while effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. In this role, you will collaborate directly with our clients to design, build, scale, and maintain robust production data validation systems and platforms. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive, hands-on Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and DBA implementation services. Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks, focusing on optimizing slow or long-running queries. Enhance and refine SQL logic techniques such as CTEs, window functions, normalization, triggers, etc. Optimize query and processing workflows to improve system efficiency. Engage with stakeholders to define data sources, accuracy metrics, and validation standards. Construct and manage data ingestion pipelines, models, orchestration workflows, and validation tests. Extract, prepare, and analyze data from source systems for analytics and testing purposes. Partner with technical and business teams to evolve data architecture. Deliver ongoing value in an Agile development setting. Required Qualifications Proficient with SQL, particularly SQL Server 2017. Ability to resolve complex querying and blocking issues effectively. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in database engineering roles. Strong background in database administration, including security measures, file management, backup and restoration processes, and performance tuning. Familiarity with Log-Shipping and monitoring systems such as Redgate is an advantage. 5+ years of experience in a DBA role, especially with ETL processes, data warehousing, and data lakes/lakehouses. Expertise in data ingestion, modeling, and compliance validation. Advanced skills in writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, etc. Solid experience with database design, ETL processes, and effective data management. Excellent troubleshooting and debugging capabilities. Good judgment in differentiating between bug fixes, configuration changes, and feature enhancements. Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and code complexity. Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills. Professional demeanor and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mathematics (with a computer science focus). Self-motivated with a proactive professional attitude. Effective time management and prioritization skills, able to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines. Awareness of IT Service Management best practices; maintains updated tickets and tasks. Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves) Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Hands-on experience with Databricks. Background in financial services, especially in corporate loan processing, risk management, and reporting. Strong engagement skills; effectively sets expectations and consistently communicates updates. Experience with tools/languages such as R, Python, Scala, SPSS, Teradata, SAS, Power BI, Tableau, and Looker is a plus.
