Summary or Purpose All Borough employees who occupy positions where federal law mandates testing shall comply with the requirements of the federal regulations and will be subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion return to duty and follow-up testing. (ONLY AT ADMINISTRATION & FINANCE)
Operate Borough vehicles to safely transport freight, supplies, parcels and mail.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Operate Borough vehicles in a safe manner, in compliance with all traffic laws, Borough policy and procedures, and state and local regulations.
Distributes and picks up supplies, equipment and mail; loads and unloads freight.
Complete required paperwork, including shipping and receiving forms and delivery logs.
Inspects vehicle; checks gas, oil and water prior to departure and as necessary for safe operations.
Assist with inspection, cleaning, maintenance and repair of vehicles, facilities and equipment.
Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
Police Department: Perform custodial duties on a daily basis throughout the building. Assist in maintaining supply inventories for the Department. Fill Department supply requests and properly package them for delivery or shipment to Villages. Health Department:
May be required to work a non-traditional work schedule to include evening, holidays and weekends and may be subject to 24 hour on-call status.
Respect clients by recognizing their rights and maintaining confidentiality, including HIPAA requirements.
Protect self, co-workers and consumers by following policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
May be required to deliver meals on wheels. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Borough policies and procedures.
Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses Required High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience. NOT AT A&F
One year of hazardous materials work experience. NOT AT POLICE & HEALTH
Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria. NOT AT POLICE, HEALTH & PUBLIC WORKS
Valid Alaska Driver's License that meets NSB insurance criteria. FOR POLICE, HEALTH & PUBLIC WORKS
OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (8 Hour HAZWOPER) certification required. NOT AT POLICE & HEALTH
Ability to pass a thorough personal-history investigation of the person to determine character traits and habits indicative of moral character. (Police Department ONLY)
Health Department: Applicant must pass a criminal history background check conducted by the State of Alaska Background Check Unit and documentation that the individual is free from active pulmonary tuberculosis. THE NORTH SLOPE BOROUGH IS AN ALCOHOL AND DRUG FREE WORKPLACE.
