Turner Industries Group, LLC has an opening for a Civil/Structural Estimator to join our Project Controls Team in Houston, TX and be placed at a jobsite in Pasadena or the surrounding area. The estimator has the responsibility to develop accurate industrial projects estimates and prepare proposal submittal documents.
Essential Qualifications: One (1) years of estimating experience with Petrochemical and Refining projects Strong knowledge of foundations/concrete/forms, Structural (pipe rack and main framework), Piping, Fixed and rotating equipment setting and assembly Ability to interact with customers, vendors and inter-company personnel on a professional level Understanding of contractual language Ability and knowledge to review completed bids for accuracy in pricing, resources, equipment, subcontractors, safety considerations, schedule, quality and profits on a competitive basis Ability to estimate material and labor quantities from industrial construction drawings for multiple craft disciplines Must be proficient in computer-based MS programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Preferred experience in planning software applications. (Turner Applications, WinTake®, QuickPlan® and Win PCS® is an additional benefit) Strong commitment to safety and environmental excellence Work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment within the organization Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to read and write proficiently in the English language Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills The ability to travel for bid meetings and site visits (normally 1 to 2 days) Ability to cope with Pressure & Setbacks - Work productively in a pressurized environment; Keeps emotions under control during difficult situations Formally accept company drug, alcohol, and physical evaluation screens. Functional Requirements: Review specifications, drawings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work, material, outside services and sub-contractors. Review and incorporate historical data into a number of resources and man-hours estimates. Estimate extras, change orders, and discovery work items. Maintain files of working documents and backup estimate figures. Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to include, Civil, Structural, Piping, and Process Equipment setting and assembly. Perform detail take-offs for work hours and crew loading on the project scope. Competently performs all aspects of developing a preliminary or definitive estimate for any size project utilizing company owned software/spreadsheets. Create proposal documents which are accurate and include all deliverables requested by the client. Revises estimates when scope of project changes or other new information becomes available. Participate in financial and pricing reviews with executive leadership. Attend bid meetings and site visits. Develop a work scope, deliverables, responsibility matrix, terms/conditions, etc. Send pertinent information to appropriate divisional manager(s), Contracts, Safety, QC, and Commercial department. Preform material take-offs for repair or replace-in-kind work. Determine resource and skill requirements for scope of work. Determine options for scope of work and present scenarios of compatible work packages or combinations of similar scope to the client. Document change orders request for deviations on drawings, changes in the field conditions, or engineering busts. Preform job-walks and collaboratively with respective discipline Subject Matter Experts to develop job steps (activities), craft breakdown and man-hours required. Monitor and document progress of the scope work within the client's ERP system and/or Turner applications. Prepare subcontractor work packages for the bid process and work execution.
Compensation Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
