About the Role:
The Enterprise Architect requires competency in one key technological area of the bank and works with the other architects developing designs and reviewing designs for information systems to be implemented in accordance with the bank's goals, needs and objectives. This involves the uniformity of application implementations under their influence with a deep understanding of the business needs and the business strategy along with the future vision of the team's development within the enterprise's direction and technology roadmap. To lead the design, integration, and governance of enterprise cloud and AI architectures, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, scalability, and compliance with regulatory and security requirements.
Advisory and Collaboration: Act as an advisor to all technology groups, and the bank as a whole, when new technologies or business needs are identified. Collaborate with all levels of the bank, up to and including executive management, on the bank's technology direction and business goals. Drive adoption of secure, scalable cloud solutions (Azure, etc.) aligned with business needs. Enterprise Architecture (EA) Patterns and Frameworks: Create EA patterns and antipatterns. Develop and maintain enterprise cloud and AI architecture standards, models, and governance frameworks. Develop and maintain enterprise cloud reference architectures and AI solution patterns. Strategy and Roadmap Ownership: Own the development and alignment of technology strategy and roadmap within a defined domain. Work closely with technology and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and sponsorship. Lead AI architecture initiatives, including integration of machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI capabilities. Research and Development: Stay actively engaged in industry and technology trends. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies for cloud and AI capabilities. Maintain active research on current state and emerging technologies. Drive creation of enterprise technology radar report which includes classification of solutions into the following recommendations: Hold, Assess, Trial and Adopt. Requirements Definition: Understand user and process requirements and ensure those requirements can be achieved through high quality deliverables. Analyze and translate business and functional requirements into enterprise architecture design that align with Enterprise Architecture Principles. Product and Solution Delivery & Integration: Work with application, solution, and technology architects to ensure business and data architecture alignment. Influence and collaborate with TAG Teams (Product Engineering, Cloud Ops, etc.) and other Business Units to deliver secure, quality, scalable and resilient solutions within schedule, budget and scope. Understand the interactions between systems, applications, and services within the environment, and evaluate the impact of changes or additions. Support application modernization and migration strategies, including hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. Industry and Brand Stewardship: Actively participate in industry events (e.g. financial and technology conferences), publish white papers, host webinars and much more to help advance the technology brand of the company. Mentorship: Provides active leadership and mentorship in technology best practices/patterns, methodology and other relevant areas across Teams and the company. Additional, corporate wide functions: Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities - knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes. Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training. Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description. Coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert. Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words. About You: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, related field or equivalent work experience, required. Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, related field or equivalent work experience, preferred. Certification as an Architect in Azure, AWS or GCP, preferred. 10+ Years of experience in analysis, design, development, or application deployment, required. 4+ Years of experience as an EA, AI or Cloud architect, required. Competent in reviewing system and application designs to ensure compliance and consistency with the businesses strategic direction. Possesses organizational skills to identify and track architectural issues to resolution. Has in-depth knowledge and competency in the bank's key technological areas within the total computing environment and how various hardware, software and telecommunications components impact the overall environment. Must be well-versed and have hands-on experience with cloud environments (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.) Must be well-versed in Enterprise Architecture Frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, BIAN) and Architecture and Well-Architected Cloud Frameworks. Must be proficient with contingency and disaster recovery procedures. Collaborative professional who can build effective partnerships with technical and non-technical leaders. A respected leader who is able to lead and grow the next generation of architects. Must be able to foresee risks and communicate and plan appropriate mitigation. Strong oral and written communicator who is able to build cooperative relationships with people to communicate the business value of technology.

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $116,647.72 - $180,000.00, and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
