Leonardo is seeking a part time intern employable year-round for a position as a draftsman in training. The candidate will be responsible for updating, modifying, and creating variations of existing Solidworks CAD models and drawings and documenting changes through Engineering Change Orders while maintaining a high standard of quality. This position allows flexibility of a part time schedule with at least 10 hours per week up to full time at 40 hours per week during school holidays.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • 3D CAD model modification or creation
  • 2D CAD drawing modification or creation
  • Document changes in Engineering Change Orders
  • Assist in the improvement of ECO process
  • Gather data for metrics regarding drawing usage and ECOs
  • PDM usage and organization

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Continued enrollment or recent graduate of an academic Drafting or Engineering program
  • Will accept high school drafting courses with transcripts or letters of recommendation and evidence of current and continued academic enrollment
  • Experience using 3D CAD and 2D software such as Solidworks
  • A very strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on limited verbal or written instructions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • The ability to work onsite at Leonardo Electronics, Inc., Tucson facility
