Job Summary — The Mechanical Technician will perform the professional installation, repair and maintenance of commercial doors, frames, and hardware.

The Mechanical Technician is responsible and accountable for:
- Maintaining a safe, productive, and timely work environment for both self and team member(s).
- Deliver excellent customer service by having a professional and positive attitude in all interactions with customers.
- Coordination with SBS Operations Manager, sales team, and other departments as required to ensure the work is designed and completed properly in alignment with customer expectations.
- Ensure work instructions are clear and necessary tools, materials and equipment are loaded into company vehicle, or otherwise arranged, to ensure an efficient and productive customer visit, prior to leaving the SBS offices.
- Inspection of completed work to ensure no damages have occurred, installation functions properly, and all necessary customer training has been provided for a professional installation.
- Able to independently perform field inspections of existing conditions, make recommendations, and troubleshooting.
- Keep company vehicle and equipment properly serviced, clean, in safe working order, and properly stocked.
Essential Functions
- Participate in any and all applicable training opportunities for both safety and this position.
- Calling and emailing customers and/or SBS team members as required, including daily progress reports to manager.
- Reviewing customer concerns and making appropriate recommendations.
- Remove, install, fabricate, service and troubleshoot commercial hollow metal/wood doors, frames and hardware.
- Remove, install, program, service, and troubleshoot electrified hardware and automatic operators per the scope of work and customer requirements.
- Basic locksmithing including pinning cylinders, cutting keys, and troubleshooting.
- Train customers to ensure they understand how to safely maintain, and operate their new doors and hardware.
- Track and maintain all job-related paperwork (and computer system information) and submit in a timely manner.
- Reviewing packing slips and materials to assure suitability for the intended application before starting work.
- Utilize company vehicles according to SBS’s vehicle policy and applicable laws.
- Train SBS technicians how to safely and effectively perform this work, as assigned.
- Work a flexible schedule as needed when work dictates.
