Job Summary
Our Dispatcher position aka Telecommunications Technician, is responsible for dispatching Security Services Personnel to emergent and non-emergent calls for service. Collaborates with UCPD dispatch on calls for service response. Answers emergency and non-emergency phone calls from the community, and public safety dispatch entity, UCSF Health staff, patients, and visitors requesting assistance and information. Communicates overhead pages for some emergency alerts. Dispatch emergency code responses. The Security Services department operates 24 hours / 7 days a week. One must be able to work various shifts and days of the week, including weekends and may work at multiple San Francisco UCSF locations. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. This position represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The hourly range for this position is $31.22-$44.69, depending on experience.

Required Qualifications
High School diploma or GED equivalent. Valid California Driver's License. Ability to de-escalate angry, uncooperative callers or persons presenting at the front desk. Must be able to work shift work for a 24/7 security services operation, and to work at variable UCSF security services locations, as assigned (personnel/employees are awarded shifts based upon a seniority shift bid process). Must be able to pass a background check, as employees have access to sensitive patient information and property. Ability to perform several related tasks simultaneously. Ability to learn and become proficient in the use of computer-based records management systems to include effective written and excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to acclimate to work in a high-pressure, high-call volume service environment, occasionally, where there may be contact with individuals who are in crisis. Ability to work onsite in San Francisco. Preferred Qualifications Dispatch experience monitoring radio communications, and transmitting on two-way radio/overhead microphone equipment. Ability to operate CCTV monitoring system. Work experience in a Security or Medical facility is a plus.
