(STA) Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish (Palo Alto) seeks a qualified person to be responsible for planning, implementing, administering and evaluating all components of the parish catechetical program. This person should be a committed Catholic with a strong faith formation, a sense of commitment, flexibility and the openness to continue to learn and find ways to better serve to Catholic Community of Palo Alto.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Direct and coordinate STA Kids Faith Formation Program in the parish (Pre-K through 5th Grades). Includes: managing registration, calendar, curriculum, and support for catechists with the necessary supplies and materials.
2. Recruit and train catechists for the STA Kids Faith Formation Program.
3. Engage with catechists, direct and supervise Sacramental Preparation for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist.
4. Catechize children seeking Baptism, 1st Communion, Youth and Adult Confirmation. Includes working with and catechizing parents of those children.
5. Attends to monthly staff meeting and monthly staff social.
6. Collaborate with other ministries and larger Parish Events (eg: Annual Parish Picnic, Advent and Christmas events. Lent and Easter celebrations, etc).
7. Coordinate and integrate this ministry with the entire Parish life and with other ministries such as Youth ministry and Liturgical ministry.
8. Prepare and monitor the annual Faith Formation budget: Prepare the annual budget for review by the pastor in a timely manner and quarterly review of Faith Formation budget to assure adherence to guidelines.
9. Organize and offer volunteers trainings and formation.
10. Participate and collaborate with Diocesan Faith Formation meetings and events.
11. Update parish website with relevant information regarding Faith Formation programs, activities, etc.
Preferred Qualifications/Requirements:
Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of stages of human and faith development.
Capacity to relate to a wide variety of people, a spirit of generosity, and the ability to delegate and collaborate.
Able to facilitate meeting and group processes.
Education in Catechesis, Religious Studies, Theology, Pastoral Ministry or equivalent; Experience in teaching and comfortable with public speaking.
Proficient in Zoom and in Microsoft Office Business Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to work on weekends (and occasionally on evenings).
Salary determined according to Diocesan Guidelines.

Willingness to learn, receptive to coaching, and adjust to change.
Reports to: Pastor.
Salary Range (per year based on the education and experience): $75,000 – $78,000.
