The Academy of the Holy Cross, a Catholic College preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1868, is dedicated to educating young women in a Christ-centered community which values diversity. The Academy is currently hiring a Director of Campus Ministry; this is a full-time role and will report to the President. This is a 10 month role and the salary range is $65,000 to $80,000. The Director of Campus Ministry is a mission-centered leader who supports the spiritual growth of young women by fostering a vibrant, inclusive faith community that reflects the charism of Holy Cross. Serving students in grades 9–12, the Director develops and leads meaningful programming in prayer, retreats, and liturgies that invites students and staff to explore their faith. The Director collaborates closely with school leadership, theology faculty, and local clergy to ensure that the Catholic identity of the school is expressed in word and action and remains central to the school’s culture. As a visible and approachable spiritual leader, the Director of Campus Ministry accompanies students on their personal and communal faith journeys, helping them become women of courage, compassion, and scholarship—true to the vision of Blessed Basil Moreau and the legacy of the Holy Cross tradition.. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fosters a sense of belonging for all members of our diverse faith community Organizes and attends complex retreats (day and overnight) at each grade level and is responsible for planning content and booking venues and transportation Leads liturgical and paraliturgical services, p.a. prayers, morning prayer in the Chapel, reconciliation, masses during Tartan Time Plans all school-wide masses and coordinates liturgical music with the Creative Arts team Collaborates with school administration in identifying personnel to help cover Campus Ministry activities Collaborate with colleagues to develop, implement, and evaluate the Christian Service program in alignment with Catholic Social Teaching (CST) and the school’s mission Offers pastoral care for students and their families, faculty, and staff Maintains communication with the Sisters of the Holy Cross and the Archdiocese of Washington Collaborates with administration on planning faculty and staff retreats and orientations Serves as a student advisor Coordinates and consults with Chair of the Theology Department Submits updates to President on Campus Ministry events and programming Develops and promotes students in leadership roles, such as Eucharistic Ministers Serve as liaison between the school and community partners, ensuring mutually beneficial relationships Maintains awareness of regional, national, and global trends in high school campus ministry Facilitates communication to colleagues, students, and parents regarding Campus Ministry programs Maintains Campus Ministry budget Perform other related duties as assigned JOB REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Theology or Religious Studies and/or advanced degrees in Catholic Educational Leadership, etc. EXPERIENCE: Must have at least three years experience in Campus Ministry or Youth Ministry Must be a practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church SKILLS: Personal commitment to the mission of Holy Cross and to Catholic, all-girls education Must be able to assess the spiritual needs of the school community and plan accordingly Personal integrity, maturity, and emotional intelligence Must be able to maintain confidentiality, sensitivity and understanding of the grief process and family systems Ability to work as a member of a team, and to lead by example Effective communication skills – speaking, listening and processing, writing Must be able to organize complex retreats (3-4 sites, 3-4 teams of students/adults, buses, priests, etc.) Must be a team player and an empowering leader Must be able to inspire teams to work successfully to accomplish timely goals Self-motivated and willing to take the lead on challenging projects Creative and forward thinking, with an ability to successfully implement new ideas Ability to analyze and prioritize time and resources Comfort in meeting with and speaking with a variety of people in different professional and social situations Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required Sense of humor a plus TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to walk through the school multiple times a day Must be able to carry objects up to 20 lbs occasionally Must be able to handle working continuously for days (during Kairos and Junior Overnight Retreats)
