About the Role: As a Diesel Mechanic at Dollar General Fleet, you will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet of trucks, trailers, and yard tractors are in optimal working condition and compliant with federal standards. Our distribution center is located at 4101 Lakeshore Parkway, Bessemer, AL 35022. Qualifications: Minimum one (1) year of experience working on Class A trucks. Hands-on experience with air brakes, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Welding and fabrication experience is required. Familiarity with tire repair (including repair, mounting, and dismounting) is preferred. Ability to perform DOT inspections and ensure compliance. Your Responsibilities Will Include: Diagnosing and repairing truck and trailer components, such as doors, floors, side panels, and braking systems. Conducting preventive maintenance on tractor and trailer equipment, including routine technical repairs. Performing necessary maintenance repairs to enhance safety and reliability of all fleet vehicles, including tractors and trailers. Abiding by all company policies and safety regulations, while helping maintain a clean and safe work environment. Assisting drivers with any vehicle-related issues they encounter. Maintaining repairs conducted on Class 8 trucks, trailers, and yard tractors. Safely operating various hand and power tools, including forklifts and grinders.
