Job Summary/Basic Function
This position is responsible for the full range of custodial services within assigned areas, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all who use our facilities. The role requires taking ownership of the assigned spaces, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, and proactively addressing needs before they arise. Work is performed with significant independence and personal judgment, under the general direction of the Facilities Support Manager. Hours are primarily 1:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m., with occasional adjustments to support late or weekend events.
Minimum Qualifications • Associates degree in general studies or the equivalent of work experience (six or more years' experience in commercial, institutional, or industrial custodial work) • Three years' experience working in a commercial, institutional, or industrial custodial work. • Ability to work a flexible schedule • Proficient use of the Internet to search, research best practices, view online training, and video tutorials • Proficient use of a smart device/phone for calling, texting, calendaring, and use of necessary apps • Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Word and Excel as well as software packages necessary to perform the job • Have knowledge of cleaning methods, procedures, equipment and supplies used in custodial services in a commercial setting • Considerable knowledge of safety procedures, cleaning agents, and related products • Ability to effectively use online and printed SDS's • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms • Ability to lead and motivate any direct reports and assure work performed in a timely manner • Ability to use good judgement in high stress situations • Ability to utilize problem identification and resolution techniques and courteously meet and deal effectively with other employees, vendors, and the public • Possess a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications • Six or more years' experience in commercial, institutional, or industrial custodial work • Prior supervision experience

Be accountable for all custodial services performed in assigned areas

Monitor college scheduling through EMS software to plan and coordinate

When necessary: hire, schedule, and manage student employees, including providing new student employees with training on SOPs and safety practices

Assist in the inspection of facilities and participate in planning, scheduling, and implementing identified repair or replacement work

Setup and teardown tables, chairs, and other equipment used in a variety of events on campus

Assist campus security.

Daily locking of all doors and windows and the inspection of rooms, hallways, and offices for any unauthorized personnel or objects

Set all required alarms

Assist in the response of emergency calls, security/fire alarms, student/faculty situations and general problems

Act as a member of the emergency response team

Serve as back-up for other Custodial and Facility Support Specialists when vacancies arise, as needed.
